Class 7 Learn All About Allergens on Sunshine Day
Today, we celebrated Sunshine Day! Year 8 learnt all about ‘allergens’ and how different people react to different foods. We watched an experiment with white vinegar/water and baking soda to represent how some people’s bodies may react to various ingredients, before exploring a range of packaging alongside the 14 most common allergens.
We used this information to analyse some delicious sounding recipes and produce our own packaging for them. It was lovely to share the session with some of our parents too!
We challenged the idea that ‘sharing is (always) caring’, and learnt that sometimes sharing food can be dangerous if we don’t have all the information. Great work Class 7 on a really important topic!
