The most outstanding individuals and institutions that the education sector has to offer have been recognised in the shortlist for the TES Schools Awards 2020. We are delighted that Kentmere Academy and Nursery has been shortlisted for the Primary School of the Year award.
Sarah Isberg, Executive Head at Kentmere Academy and Nursery said: “I am very proud of the whole team at Kentmere and the first class teaching and learning delivered to our pupils. Kentmere has been on an incredible journey over the last few years leading the school to Ofsted Outstanding. Our performance results are some of the highest in the area and our parent satisfaction rates are high. This, together with the vibrant atmosphere, additional enrichment opportunities and support has seen us become the first choice school in the area.
Nicola Howard, Head of School said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. We have achieved so much as a school and know that the work we do has a positive impact on our pupils in both their academic and social development. The award looks at all aspects of the school achievement, focusing on creative ideas and going over and above the normal day-to-day work that a school does. We are especially happy to have been shortlisted as there were more entries than ever before this year and we know that the standard for these awards are exceptionally high”.
TES editor Ann Mroz said: “It is always a highlight of the education calendar to see the best ideas and people lauded at the Yes Schools Awards. But this year, it felt more important than ever to run an event that showcased and celebrated the hard work that teachers and school staff do for children and their local community every single day. This has been one of the most difficult years in education, but - as ever - teachers continue to rise to the challenge”.
“We had a record number of entries this year and the standard was very high, so all those shortlisted should be very proud: it’s an extraordinary achievement to be on this shortlist.”
This year the awards night cannot be in person but staff from the school will be in attendance at the virtual ceremony on Friday 13 November.
