Safeguarding is one of the most important features of life at Kentmere Academy. The safety of our children both in the school and at home is a crucial component of the Academy. Kentmere Academy has several measures in place to ensure children who study at Kentmere are in the safest environment they can be. If any parents/carers have any concerns about the safety of their child then please contact the school as soon as possible.

E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Kentmere Academy. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any E-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with school policies. E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
Internet Safety at Kentmere Academy is overseen by Simon Day, Chair of Governors.
Kentmere Academy offers a number of E-Safety awareness resources and evening provisions, both for parents and students, as part of its community links initiatives.
This E-Safety provision is in partnership with other partner schools in the Watergrove Trust.

Social media is part of most of our everyday lives. There are a lot of advantages to using social media, however, it is important that all forms of social media are used safely and that children are always guided by parents on how to use social media safety and responsibly.
A few quick tips:
- Always consider the highest privacy settings on your social media profiles. This is especially important with children.
- Always think about what you are saying on social media. What you write on social media can affect your day to day lives.
- Never ever contact or accept contacts from people you do not know or trust in real life on social media. Unfortunately, not everybody on social media has the best intentions and it is important that we all realise that just because you are talking to people via the internet does not mean that you should treat strangers any differently than you would if you met them in real life.
- Never agree to meet people you talk to online unless you know and trust them in real life.
If you have any questions or problems that have occurred online you should speak to our safeguarding team.
We are proud to have Digital Leaders who work hard at our school to promote E-Safety and support where appropriate across the school. They help to organise E-Safety events across school including E-Safety workshops. Feeding back at regular meetings, the Digital Leaders report on other students’ views on Computing and suggest ideas for enhancing learning.
